2006 House of Delegates - September 15, 2006 ~~~ Following the

WVDHA 2005 HOD MEETING
(pending
approval at the 2006 Annual session)
Lisa Lisauckis
called the 2005 House of Delegates meeting of the WVDHA to order on
Friday, September 16, 2005 at the Days Inn Flatwoods, WV. In
attendance were: Lisa Lisauckis (Speaker of the House), Deidra
Pennington (President Elect), Cynthia Maret (Immediate Past
President), Lynne Muth (Secretary), Jennifer Blaskovich, Cheryl
Brown (KVDHA Delegate), Robyn Allen (Vice President), Michelle
Sweeney (TSDHA Trustee), Jeanette Gryskevich (TSDHA Delegate), Cathy
Frere (Treasurer), Dawn M. Yost (MVDHA Delegate), Dawn Ann Dean,
Karen Guills, Tara Olczak, Dina Vaughan, and Jason Webb.
Jennifer Blaskovich reported the 2005 award
recipients from WLSC. Monica Calvert received the WVDHA Leadership
& Professionalism Award, and Danielle Olczewski was awarded the
WVDHA Patient Education Award. Colleen Webberly was chosen as an
alternate student delegate to ADHA from District III. Students from
WVU receiving awards were Elizabeth Hubbard, who received the 2005
WVDHA Leadership & Professionalism Award, and Kristin Roy, who
received the 2005 WVDHA Patient Education Award. WVU Tech award
recipients were not listed.
The appointment of Tellers was not needed, as
there was a ballot by acclamation.
Lynne Muth certified that a quorum was
present, and the business meeting began.
A motion to approve the agenda was passed.
The minutes from the 2004 HOD meeting were
amended to include the following PBY changes:
- In Article V, Section 2, add – The
President will serve as the liaison to the West Virginia Board
of Dental Examiners and will report information to the Board of
Trustees at the following board meeting or if necessary,
immediately. If the President is unable to attend the WVBoDE
meetings, the President may appoint someone in his/her place.
The appointee must report back to the President all information
within five days after the WVBoDE meeting.
- In Article XII, Sections E & F – change
the word qualified to qualifying.
The minutes were approved as amended.
All Annual Reports were approved and will be
kept on file. No report on the 2005 Strategic Plan was available.
All ADHA 2005 PR’s and PBY’s were approved for
adoption by WVDHA.
Lynne Muth on behalf of Tri-State DHA submitted
a PBY change of Article IV, Sec.4. Discussion followed with Dawn
Yost, Cynthia Maret, Deidra Pennington and Lynne Muth speaking in
favor of the change. It was recommended that the PBY be amended to
include the schedule of election of officers. The PBY then read as
follows:
- All WVDHA Executive Board Officers shall
hold their elected offices for a term of two years. The
President, President-Elect, Secretary, and Speaker of the House
will be elected in an even year. The Vice President and
Treasurer will be elected in an odd year.
The PBY change to Article IV, Sec. 4 was
adopted.
Nominations from the floor were as follows:
- Trustee at large-
- Delegate at large-Tara Olczak
- President Elect -Dawn Ann Dean
- Speaker of the House- Michele Sweeney
A motion passed to accept the ballot by
acclamation.
New Business:
- Spring Symposium will be held on March 4,
2006 in Summersville, WV at the Comfort Inn.
- Annual Session is scheduled for September
15 & 16, 2006 in Flatwoods, WV at the Days Inn
- Executive Board meetings will be held on
Jan 7, 2006 (location TBA), March 3, 2006 (in Summersville, WV)
and May 20, 2006 (location TBA).
- ADHA Annual Session 2006 will be held in
Orlando, FL in June.
Cynthia Maret presented a plaque to Jen
Grilli to honor her year as WVDHA President.
Motion to adjourn was followed by the
installation of officers, which was conducted by Cynthia Maret.
